Do you want so smash your list of goals this year? Do you even set goals? Setting goals is powerful and if done right, they are life changing.

95% of people do not set goals. They go about life aimlessly and that's why a lot of people are unhappy. If you can set your goals and follow them, your life will drastically improve. This blog post today will help you to achieve your goals.

To set goals, they need to be S.M.A.R.T. What is S.M.A.R.T?

  • Specific (be very specific, eg I want to lose 10kgs).
  • Measurable (that what is measured can be improved).
  • Achievable (something you'll be able to reasonably achieve).
  • Relevant (realistic and relevant to something you want to do).
  • Time bound (completed within a certain time frame).

Let's take an example of setting a goal to lose weight. First step, is to take out a pen and paper. Second, be specific. I want to lose 10kg's by May 1st 2021. Also, make sure you put in your why.

Your why is so important. Without your why then your goal is meaningless.

For my 10kg weight loss goal by May 1st 2021, my why will be because I want to look great in my bikini while I'm on my holiday in Dubai. I can take great photos on Instagram and not feel depressed looking at myself or worrying about how I look.

Now that's a strong why!

The goal of losing 10kg's is specific, it can be measured, it's very achievable, it's relevant to what I want in my life and it has a time set - May 1st 2021.

Now I have to come up with a small plan to how I'll lose the weight.

My simple plan will be either to hire a personal trainer online who will give me a tailored diet plan and exercise routine or I can try do it myself. I would simply look at my diet and see what I can take out and replace with a healthier option.

If for breakfast I'm eating a sausage sandwich then that can be replaced with porridge and fruit. If I'm eating a take-away every Saturday then I'll have to say bye bye take-away (you do want to look great on your holiday right?)

I'll also have to exercise more every week. I can measure how often I go to the gym. Another goal to go along with this goal could be that I'll go to the gym 4 times per week. Every week I'll measure how often I go and better get my butt up off the couch and get at it.

When you're having bad days and you feel unmotivated, this is when you need your why to shine through. When you have a strong enough why then that will motivate you to achieve your goals.

Another goal setting secret is to write out your list of goals, 5 to 10 goals is enough for the year, and keep your list of goals beside your bed and look at them every night before you go to bed. This will keep you on track. Don't write your goals, close the book and never look at them again. Drill those goals into your head and they will be achieved.

Discipline equals freedom.

Now go smash 2021!
